Greeting Bruno Lunenfeld

brunoDear Colleagues!

On behalf of ISSAM’s organizing committee I would like to welcome you to the 10th ISSAM congress in Yerevan, Republic of Armenia, September 29 – October 1, 2016.
In June 28 1997 a group of devoted scientists registered the International Society of the Aging Male (ISSAM) at the Royal Society of Medicine in London with the objective of promoting research, study and education on all matters relating to men’s health.
Building on the foundations of the Vienna International Plan of Action on Ageing in 1982 and the UN Principles for Older Persons and recognizing the projections for population ageing, the World Health Organization’s Ageing and Health Programme in collaboration with the International Society for the Study of the ageing Male (ISSAM) is advocating a gender-specific approach to healthy ageing.
ISSAM has become the leading society in the field and membership provides access to a global forum that mobilizes talent, energy and resources to allow men to age in good health and dignity. ISSAM promotes the acquisition, critical evaluation and dissemination of relevant information through its journal The Aging Male, as well as sponsoring multidisciplinary task forces and international research efforts.
Evidence-based lifespan strategies for successful ageing must be adopted, with appropriate adaptation for older people to cater for the heterogeneity and complexity of later life. A better understanding of molecular mechanisms of ageing, embedded in a translational matrix of medicine, is an absolute requirement for the design of new clinical procedures for improved prevention, early diagnosis and management of age-associated deficiencies, dysfunctions and diseases. This will result in better application of results from basic and clinical research into everyday practice.
Implementing preventive health strategies, decreasing, delaying or preventing frailty, lung, breast prostate and colon cancer, cardiovascular and mental disease, metabolic syndrome, osteoporosis and osteopenia may increase health expectancy, and permit men and women as long as possible to age in health and dignity. All these subjects will be discussed during this meeting.
We are especially thankful to the organizing committee, to the ministry of health of Armenia and our sponsors to make this meeting possible.
Looking forward to meet you hoping it will be of benefit to you and your patients and you will also enjoy this beautiful country and city.

Dear delegates and guests of ISSAM-2016 international congress!

On behalf of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia let me welcome participants and guests of ISSAM-2016, Tenth International Congress of the International Society for Study of the Aging Male.

The issue of increasing effectiveness of medical and social services today is among top priorities of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia.

We are facing the challenge of decreasing the incidence of, and preventing diseases related to aging, and improve the overall quality of life. These tasks require coordination of efforts of physicians in different fields – endocrinologists, sexual health specialists, urologists, andrologists, gynecologists, diet therapists, neurologists, cardiologists, psychologists, and others. As longevity grows, problems of age-related diseases become especially pressing, in Armenia and all over the world. The goal of “getting older without getting ill” and prevention of disability among senior citizens have become very significant in the national healthcare system of our country.

This is why we are especially proud that Armenia is hosting today the 10th anniversary international congress of ISSAM.

Let me wish all participants of the Congress successful and productive work!

This event is being dedicated to the 25th anniversary of independence of the Republic of Armenia!

Armen Muradyan
Minister of Health of the Republic of Armenia

Dear friends and colleagues!

On behalf of the urologist community of Armenia, I am glad to welcome you to Yerevan, the city with almost 3000 years of history, the host city of 10th Anniversary International Congress of the International Society for Study of the Aging Male (ISSAM-2016).

The Armenian Urology Association is as old as ISSAM. Every year our Association hosts and supports professional forums that allow physicians from this country to hear and talk to world-renowned doctors, study cutting-edge achievements in the sphere of prevention and treatment of urological, including male anti-aging diseases; discuss the most recent trends in development of medicine in general and urology in particular.

I am happy to say that our goals in this issue match; moreover, relevant fields of both disciplines intersect on both sides, which makes studying the problem more comprehensive and full.

Early diagnostics, prevention and treatment of aging diseases are in the focus of the professional community today like never before. This is why I am very happy to welcome interdisciplinary cooperation in the sphere of male health, and we are looking forward to meeting with our colleagues - physicians, scholars and researchers.

I invite you to take an active part in ISSAM’s 10th ANNIVERSARY INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS. I am very hopeful that the Congress will render beneficial influence on development of urology and related fields, in this country and the rest of the world.

Welcome to Yerevan!

Artur Grabsky,
President, Armenian Urology Association
